This is my first visit to GitHub since MS bought it, and I'm curious but wary about this forum.
My simple question is, is this the right place to be trying to discuss open source projects themselves, recruit developers and evangelize ideas? Or are these forums, as all the headings imply, intended for a community built around discussing and using GitHub itself? The latter is frankly, not very interesting to me as I've never had much problem using git or GitHub and getting answers from Stack Exchange or wherever.
I *am* interested in recruiting interested folks for a couple big projects and looking for where to post about such things.
Thanks for any feedback.
Thank you for being here! The Forum is intended to be a place for further collaboration, support, and brainstorming. However, we don't want to have job listings on the Community Forum right now. It is something that we've added to the list to investigate if we can do so without overwhelming other conversations.
We're looking forward to seeing you around!
I wasn't asking about job listings, I was asking about how to get free contributors to open source projects. It seems this would be a good service to provide the community, and is very frustrating there appears to be no forum on or off GitHub where programmers can just pow wow about projects.
Thanks for clarifying! You can share your projects in our Project Development Help and Advice board for feedback and/or collaboration from the Community. I hope this helps!
You may also be interested in the Programming Help and Discussion board. While this board isn't dedicated to Open Source Software specifically, I think that discussion around Open Source Software would fit pretty well there. If there's significant interest in discussing Open Source specifically, we may also include a board specifically for that topic at a later date.
Thanks for being here and I hope you find what you need! If we can help in any way, please don't hesitate to let us know.
