Sensitive Data Policy

I have asked Github to remove a password of mine someone posted.

I was told to follow the instructions on the Sensitive Data Removal Policy page. Which instructs people to contact support. Which is exactly what I had done.

I did it again, thinking I must have been mistaken and I must have done something wrong.

I was told the same thing.

I responded to both support tickets saying I believed I did what each representative asked already.

I was ignored.

I submitted a new ticket.

I was ignored.

I have submitted a new ticket each day for a week.

I was ignored.

I have submitted a ticket based on the anti-doxing criteria which includes passwords.

I was ignored.

I submitted a complaint to the DMCA agent, despite the fact that a trivial string of characters is likely not protected by copyright.

I was ignored.

I have emailed the individual who posted the password at his personal, work, and previous work email. I have emailed both companies at their generic email addresses.

I was ignored.

Massive jackassery occurring.

Re: Sensitive Data Policy

Hi @qome,

I'm sorry that your case was not handled quickly enough for you. However, harassing our support agents is not a way to get a faster answer. Repeatedly messaging support just creates more support tickets for our team to handle which results in slower responses for everyone, yourself included.

I am happy to look up you case notes and see where things are in the process, but it is against our policy to discuss private case details publically in forum as that may expose sensitive information. If you could email community@github.com and reference this forum post, I will work with you privately to figure out what's going on.

Thanks!

Re: Sensitive Data Policy

I've done that. I got the exact same confirmation email I got for every other communication I've sent regarding this issue.

I look forward to never recieving a response.

And to be clear, this isn't about it being handled "quickly enough" for me. This is about being ignored for 12 days. GitHub's conduct in this matter has been abhorrent. I should have gotten a response to the first or second ticket saying "You think you followed the instructions, but here's what you did wrong," or something to that effect. I shouldn't have gotten silence. You don't want to be harassed and get your **bleep** clogged up? Then stop ignoring people. Tell them they're contacting you the wrong way, providing insufficient information, you've recieved their request and are working on it, ANYTHING. People with serious issues are going to keep contacting you until they get a response indicating no further information is needed from them. A boilerplate saying the message has been received is insufficient.

Re: Sensitive Data Policy

5 days later, no response.

Password has been in plaintext on the website for over 2 weeks.

I'm half tempted to go make a post containing what looks like a Github employee's password and see if it gets deleted before mine does.

Re: Sensitive Data Policy

Hi @qome,

I'm sorry for the delayed response. I don't see anything from you in our ticketing system. Since you said that you have confirmation emails, could you share the ticket numbers so that I could look them up for you?

Thanks!
