Not quite sure what you are trying to ask. I, for one, write all the code I commit to my repositories. I may be building on someone else's project, but I write my code.
A lot of people, myself included, use frameworks or libraries to take care of certain tasks and avoid "reinventing the wheel". Any code I write _using_ those components is "my own code".
So what do you consider "modern code"? Or turn that around, and what coding languages or methodologies are you familar with? What would you like to learn?
