[skip ci] / [ci skip] don't work if a repo has branch protection enabled "Travis CI - Pull Request"

I have a branch which has status check "Travis CI - Pull Request" enabled. But a PR which has [skip ci] / [ci skip] on commit messages still gets a waiting status with the required status check. Any idea and solution? Thanks.
