What is the most interesting or non-traditional way you've used GitHub (or seen it used)?

Hi GitHub Community!

There are so many interesting ways folks are using GitHub, beyond coding. This is one of my personal favorites: https://github.com/EbookFoundation/free-programming-books, this repo administered by the Free Ebook Foundation, a not-for-profit organization devoted to promoting the creation, distribution, archiving and sustainability of free e-books links to 100% free e-books to learn any programming language you fancy in over 20 written languages. I'd be super interested to see what others here have seen!

Cheers,

Andrea

Loooove the cookbook repo! I'm always losing my recipes...might have to use this idea for myself!

Oh, using GitHub as a personal to-do list/project management system is a great way to really use the Issues and Projects features: creating an issue for each main task with tick-boxes in the description breaks down tasks super easily (plus adding comments and referencing files is a breeze), and organising them with Projects and automation is really good for getting a grasp of what's going on!

I'm interested if anyone else has seen or done this? I think I've seen this on a blog or two, but never properly demonstrated.

I do this all the time! I find it helps me keep track of where I'm at with certain projects and then also makes it much easier for coworkers to understand the status of things, too.

I did it too, then I discovered kanban (wikipedia) and my life changed. Now I'm using a blackboard and post-it, this allows me to have a general overview of all the things I have to do. In the future i will create some sort of kanban app to save both paper and money to buy post-it (I know that there are a billion applications that do the same thing, but now it has become a challenge).

This is a really good plan I do this is some capacity but also use Asana, I have to admit neither as complete as I'd like, I make lists a lot mostly in paper, need to get more organize in my repo's I think! Thanks for sharing

As a CMS, Google it or see: https://www.netlify.com/blog/2017/08/17/a-complete-cms-with-no-server-and-18-lines-of-code/ . GH Pages pretty much is a CMS on itself also!
