Uploaded a RMD file that erased all previous files on the master branch

Hello,

I uploaded an RMD file through GitHub which deleted all previous files in the repository, curious as to why this happened. Also, merging two master branches auto-populated the original master branch with our files. After merging the two master branches two projects were created and located in the master branch.

Any thoughts on these issues will be appreciated.

Thank you

Re: Uploaded a RMD file that erased all previous files on the master branch

Hi. Did this happen on a public repo on github.com?

I suspect that would make it easier for people to follow along and possibly reproduce what might have happened.

Re: Uploaded a RMD file that erased all previous files on the master branch

Hello, the repository in which I uploaded my RMD file is private. Some background info: I lost my git connection to the repository before uploading my RMD file. Would this be a reason to why my upload erased all previous files in the master branch?
