Feature Request: Global Markdown reference link definitions

[![Build Status]]

See the project [contributions] file and the [HTML] spec.

I wish I could predefine reference links for use within a project. They would be useful in issue discussions in particular. Some global reference link definitions could even be added automatically by Github, e.g. to typical project documentation files, labels and milestones.

Mentions (using `@`) and issue IDs (using `#`) are two types of predefined links that already exist, but that use a prefix syntax on top of standard Markdown. Gitlab supports some additional prefixes, e.g. `~` for labels.

Hi @Crissov,

Thanks for this feedback! We're always working to improve GitHub and the GitHub Community Forum, and we consider every suggestion we receive. I've logged your feature request in our internal feature request list. Though I can't guarantee anything or share a timeline for this, I can tell you that it's been shared with the appropriate teams for consideration.
