Hello GitHub Community Forum members,
Today, we would like to celebrate the one year anniversary of the launch of the GitHub Community Forum with all of you. Exactly one year ago, we began with just three discussion boards, a single GitHub Original Series article, and an excitement to provide all of you with a new space for connecting, collaborating, and learning. Though our discussion boards and articles have changed, our excitement still remains the same, and we are looking forward to bringing you so much more valuable content over the next year. Here's some of the wonderful things people have been saying about the GitHub Community Forum:
I recently discovered the community forum and have since been reading several articles and threads daily. I wish I had known about this months ago, as the knowledge I've gained in short time has been invaluable. I am excited to continue to learn from and grow with you all, and hope to be able to contribute in a meaningful way as well.
It's great to be able to participate and get help from everyone in this community
I'm no expert at GitHub, so I have lots to learn and hope to meet people who share the same interests along the way! :)
I appreciate the Github Community Forum...and Github Support...for the help I received resolving a difficult issue. I hope to keep learning alot, and to be a good citizen of this community.
Thank you so much to all of you for being here!
We want to give a special shout-out to our early access users for helping to test the Community Forum, along with our most active users from our first year so far: @ItsPugle, @mpboom, and @Wabri. Your contributions have been invaluable and so appreciated. You have truly helped shape the future of this space and continue to do so. Thank you! We are working on a special program to show you our thanks in the coming year; so much more to come, including opportunities for other members of the community to join this group!
Before we dive into what's to come, we thought it would be fun to look back on the last year and what we (and all of you!) have accomplished so far.
In addition to celebrating what we've already done, we want to share a bit about what we're planning for the future. We are working hard to make the Community Forum even better. Over the next year, we will be adding new features and experiences to the GitHub Community Forum. Some of the things you can look forward to in 2019...
You may have noticed something new already: a slight change to the format of the header on our homepage. We've changed things by putting search front and center to help you get answers faster. This isn't the biggest change, but it's the first in a series of improvements that we'll be making over the next year to improve the overall user experience of the forum.
Thank you to all of our community members so much for everything you've contributed so far. We are so glad to have you here.
If you want to share a favorite memory of the last year in the forum, or if you have any ideas or requests for things you'd like to see in the GitHub Community Forum in the future, leave a comment below. This platform can't exist without all of you, and we want to hear how to make it an even better place for you to connect and learn.
Here's to another year!
