Workflow run with manual description

I have builder which triggers on push and automatically makes app from data
How can i make builder manual, when i input Build Version, that input will be used on description of action (not sure how this field called)

with push it automatically uses commit name

code i have to input:

on:
    workflow_dispatch:
        branches:
            - master
        inputs:
            name:
                description: 'Build Version'
                default: '0.1'
                # Input has to be provided for the workflow to run
                required: true

but i dont understand how to access this description field and make it use that input

Not sure why image not works for me, so re-uploaded it

on:
  workflow_dispatch:
    branches:
      - main
    inputs:
      name:
        description: "Build Version"
        default: "0.1"
        required: true
jobs:
  build:
    runs-on: ubuntu-latest
    steps:
      - name: Build v${{ github.event.inputs.name }}
         env:
          MY_BUILD_NUMBER: ${{ github.event.inputs.name }}
         run: |
           echo "Build Version ${{ env.MY_BUILD_NUMBER }}!"
           echo "- REF: ${{ github.GITHUB_REF }}!"
           echo "- SHA: ${{ github.GITHUB_SHA }}!"

           # docker pull org/app:${{ github.event.inputs.name }}

You can use it to configure your steps based on the input provided.

Hi @N1ghtSiren,

Glad to see you in Github Community Forum!

It’s not supported to edit the workflow description which highlighted in your screenshot, you cannot add the input value in it.

And ‘branches’ parameter is not applied to workflow_dispatch event, it only applies to push&pull_request. Typically we will put the workflow_dispatch event on default branch, please check my answer here for non-default branches.

Thanks
