Where do I post bug reports and feature requests about the GitHub Community Forum?

I know that for github.com, I should report bugs and feature requests to github.com/contact. I am wondering if GitHub Community Forum has a subforum to post feedback in, or if, like the rest of GitHub, you only accept feedback through the Contact page.

I prefer to post feedback where other users can see it, vote on it, and comment on it. The repository github.com/dear-github/dear-github/issues tries to provide this for github.com, but it’s not officially monitored.

This is a great question! For now, the best way to submit bug reports or feature requests for the Forum is via our contact page (github.com/contact). GitHub Staff working in the Forum will see and respond to those requests there.

That said, I do want to share that we are working on a new tool and process for submitting these sorts of things for the Community Forum (and for github.com). This is still in the investigative stage, and I don’t have a timeline to share, but we are planning on improving this process.

We also recognize the desire for feature requests to be visible to other users, commented on, and even voted on. These are all things that we are taking into consideration when looking at implementing a new process.

Thanks for bringing this up @roryokane

@nadiajoyce Are you aware of this repo? https://github.com/isaacs/github

It would be nice if the issues from that repo could be migrated to the Github Community Forum so we can properly track feature requests and interact with the GitHub staff.

Yes, we are aware of that repo. As mentioned in my previous comment, we are looking into new tooling that would be part of the Community Forum for taking feature requests. I don’t have any details to share right now, but this is on our radar, for sure.

Hey @nadiajoyce ,

I was just looking for ways to submit feature requests to GitHub and found this thread.

You mentioned 2 years ago that you are looking onto new tooling to improve the process of submitting feature requests as well as tracking those publicly.

What did come out of your investigation? Is there a new platform for this now?

Hi @leventesz,

Thank you for checking in! At the moment, you can still post a feature request here in the Community Forum in the board that you feel it most belongs to (example: GitHub Pages, GitHub API, Actions, How to Use Git and GitHub). A list of all the boards can be found under the Conversations List.

You can simply go to the Conversations List. Here or the support forum, that is also the best option.

@nyahbhinghiprincess (and @abdul0012-droid)- your Conversations List link is just Conversations List that doesnt seem to go anywhere.

I’d like to know where the features request board is. I dont see anything on the main page that is for features.

Hello @StingyJack,

Thank you for being here and pointing this out!
Our forum has since changed platforms. The equivalent of the Conversations List is now the Categories which you should also see on the main page. When interested in workarounds, it is beneficial to post a topic in the relevant community form category that your feature request applies to (such as Github Pages, the REST API, and so on).

We are working on unifying and improving this feedback experience for our users and apologize for any inconvenience.

You can also keep an eye on our Changelog as well as the GitHub public roadmap to see features we are working on.

I am chiming in as well to connect this updated Support Pro Tips article on posting bug reports: Submitting bug reports for GitHub.com for the original question asked here in this topic.
