Webhook policy on failed deliveries

My understanding is that GitHub will not attempt re-deliver failed events. Will it stop sending new events for specific webhook if they always fail? Or it will keep sending them regardless?

Thanks!

Hi @maximgoldin,

Thanks for being part of the GitHub Community Forum!

I believe that we will continue to attempt to send them, even if they continue to fail.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if I can help with anything else.

Cheers!

Thanks, @nadiajoyce! Appreciate your reply!

Hi @nadiajoyce! A follow up question - is it possible to know the exact time when webhook was sent?

For example:

time A - event commited

time B - webhook event sent

time C - webhook event reached my service

I can find A from event payload, and I know time C on my side. I wonder if there is a reliable way to get B (although I expect it to be very close to A). I am trying to slice the delivery time and see where the time goes.

Thanks!

If you go into the edit webhook screen you can list its recent deliveries, which includes a timestamp.
