I’m trying to build a tool that looks at commits of frequently used repos (think npm packages). The API limits me to 5k requests per hour which means I can only poll for new commits of at most 5000 repos per hour. Is there a more scalable way to do this via hooks even though they are public repos that I do not own?
Hi @louisstow, there is not a way to add hooks to repositories that you do not own. Could I ask what your goal is? Trying to poll more than 5000 repos per hour is a resource intense task and I’d like to find out if there is perhaps a different way that I can help you to accomplish your larger goal.
Hi @that-pat, my goal is to run analysis on the commit messages and the diff to extract useful information (such as potential security vulnerabilities) in somewhat real-time.
