Wasted space

Is there any possibility of updating the styling of the web page when viewing files? If I browse a file the pages has like 25% empty space on the left and the right with the central 50% showing the file contents. This makes it frustrating when text lines are a little long and we must use a horzontal scroll bar, we can only reach this scroll bar by scolling to the bottom of the page.

Why not make this adjustable or in some other way allow users to take advantage of their monitors when viewing files?

@korporal - Hi there! I’m really sorry no one’s gotten back to your question until now. We don’t have any context or reasoning to share around specific design decisions, though we see where you’re coming from and how such a change would be helpful. As a next step, we encourage you to share this with our product team in this form:

https://support.github.com/contact/feedback

That’s the best place to share product feedback and feature requests today.

If it helps, sometimes my colleagues in our engineering organization post more context around the features they work on in GitHub Blog or the GitHub Engineering Blog. We recommend both if you’re interested in those kinds of updates:

I hope this helps!
