Visual Studio Extension for GitHub does not see changes and loses all history

I had just completed a new class in Visual Studio 2019. I switched to Team Explorer and went to Changes.
I expected to see the new *.cs and .sln. There were no changes. I did a View History on the branch. There is no history.

I noticed that the documentation for the GitHub extension for Visual Studio 2019 still discusses the “Publish to Repository” feature which has been removed from the extension. The documentation has not been updated.

Has the extension for Visual Studio 2019 been deprecated?

Hi @clirresearch,

It’s all a little complicated because GitHub for Visual Studio works with Visual Studio 2019, 2017 and 2019. The Team Explorer tool-window has been deprecated in Visual Studio 2019 and replaced with the Git tool-window.

You can read about the new Git experience in Visual Studio 2019 here:

You should find you can access the GitHub tool-window via View > Other Windows > GitHub. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

I hope that helps!
