I should already turn on the github page, but it didn’t let me move on. Anything I missed?
You’re correct. I was able to view your public deployed site here https://siuhangw.github.io/github-slideshow. I’ve marked this step as complete in your course and posted the bot response in your course repository for next steps.
Let us know if you continue to experience issues with this course.
@siuhangw I see @a-a-ron was able to move the course forward for you, but the reason it was stuck is because the app needs additional permissions. As the GitHub API changes, Learning Lab occassionally needs to obtain different permissions to continue working. This is one of those cases. To fix it, use the following steps:
Scroll to the bottom and accept the new permissions
You should have received an email from GitHub back when we changed the permissions, but they can be easy to miss! You’ll want to do the above steps to avoid the same problem in future courses.
I am also having the same issue, and I must confess it is frustrating
@lewikeezy I’m sorry for the frustration - we certainly want to create a great experience for our learners and I know this is not the way to do it.
I took a look and your course is not working for a slightly different reason. Learning Lab works as a separate application and requires you to grant it permission to work with GitHub. We occassionally need to update those permissions based on changes to the GitHub API or new features. Your course is not working because it needs you to accept some new permissions.
You would have received an email from GitHub asking you to accept the changes, but I know emails are easy to miss! Here’s how you can fix it without digging through your inbox:
Select Configure and then select your account (if needed)
Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see an option to accept the new permissions
Once you’ve done that, toggle GitHub Pages off and on in your course repository and the bot should respond!
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
