Starting Github Pages Learning Lab course shows 404 page

I installed the Github Pages learning course. When I start the course, I am redirected to below URL in my repository with a 404

/github-pages-with-jekyll/issues/1

I also enabled Github pages in repository settings and selected a theme.

Not sure how to proceed from here. Appreciate some help. Thanks.

Hi @nareshbabupb! I’m trying to take a look, but I’m not finding that repository. Is there a chance it’s set to private, or you have since deleted the repository?

Hello @brianamarie , Thanks for offering to look into the issue. Yes I have deleted the repository. But I was able to go through other topics of the course further and complete them. Thanks again.

Im having this same issue, but mine is not fixed. lab.github.com/githubtraining/github-pages says ‘Your repository is being set up… You may need to install the GitHub Learning Lab app on your repository!’ I’ve done the latter but this page seems stuck, and clicking on start from the courses page leads to a 404 at github.com/KChalk/github-pages-with-jekyll/issues/1. Do I need to do something else to finish setting up my repo?

Edit: Solved by turning it off and back on again. Leave course, then re-join.

Hi, I’m having the same problem. I have left the course and deleted the repo and started over again, with the same 404 result. https://github.com/meggangreen/github-pages-with-jekyll/issues/1

How do you “turn it off and back on again”?

How do you “leave the course”? This is maddening. I just get stuck in a loop with the same 404 error and learning lab things I have started the basic github training I could never view and I don’t know how to reset it and register again for that course

It seems as though you still have a repository named “github-pages-with-jekyll”.

If you want to re-join the course from the course page you will need to delete the repository before trying to join a second time.

This should help you remove that repositiory https://help.github.com/en/github/administering-a-repository/deleting-a-repository

I couldn’t see the repository for this course on your account.  Do you have it set to private?

No, I removed it and now can’t make it install again. I can never get to a menu that gives me an option to install. It just things I am partway into the course

It says the lab is installed. Then I get to this page: https://lab.github.com/githubtraining/introduction-to-github Where it says, “your repository is being set up” If I watch the tab at the top in chrome, the spinner spins every 5 seconds like the page is trying to load something and move on to the next page. It never happens. There is a green botton at the upper left that says, “start: assign yourself”. If I finally give up and click that, I get the 404 error on this page, obviously because it is not finding a repository with that in it. But when I had the repo, it didn’t work either. Do I just try to fetch that project manually from somewhere?

And on this page: https://lab.github.com/ I see this the following. And I can’t do anything. Whatever I click takes me in a loop to the “setting up” page or a 404 page. There has to be a way to tell labs that I am not in progress, I want to delete the course and start over

Hi @frightrisk! I saw your post on another thread and responded there. I saw that you had an active registration, but that the course had gotten hung up somehow.

I deactivated your registration. Are you able to try to register again?

Thank you! Yes, clearing that made it work. I was able to follow the very simple step of going to learning lab, choosing the “login with gitub” button in the center, then clicking the button that suggested I start with the “Introduction to Github”. It popped up a box that checked off steps as it created a repository and loading things up. This way was actually easier than the 2 or 3 step process I first tried. I appreciate your help!
