Ssh error, cannot connect via git

Hello,

I primarily use Github with r studio, today I was setting up a new project and could not connect to my Github account with the error:

fatal: unable to access ‘https://github.com/fieldofhats/Nmix_prey_abundance_results.git/’: error:1408F10B:SSL routines:ssl3_get_record:wrong version number

I tried to clone the repository using git for windows and I get the same error (i have tried other repositories with the same result.

I followed some troubleshooting guides on the Github web site and created a new ssh key, and added that key to my personal Github page, but that has not corrected the problem. from the troubleshooting guide when I try:

$ ssh -T -p 443 git@ssh.github.com

I get this error:
kex_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
Connection closed by 192.30.255.122 port 443

I’m somewhat new to github, and really have no knowledge about ssh, keys, etc, so I may have made thing worse. In any case I cannot seem to connect to my github site via git or rstudio.

I would be grateful for any advice, thank you
Brian
