Some Unix Commands Don't Work in Git Bash Window

Hi, this is my first post so apologies if this is the wrong place for this issue.

I am going through an online data science course created by UC San Diego, and one of the modules is background and practice using Unix commands. When I open a Git Bash window and follow along with the course, many of the Unix commands work, but some don’t. For instance ‘man’ does not provide information on commands, it simply says not a recognized command. Same for ‘more’ and others. Commands like ‘ls’, ‘cp’, ‘mkdir’, ‘grep’ and others do work. Is there something I can do to get all the commands to work? Is this a general problem with Git Bash?

If you attempt to run a command in Git Bash, and then it fails to run, your Git Bash must be void of that command functionality. You could verify the program doesn’t exist by searching for it in the environment of Git Bash. I suggest you read the documentation for Git Bash if you didn’t read that yet. The documentation for Git Bash should show information about how much of Bash it supports.
