SMTP PHPMailer Error in registration process

Hi All,

I hope this is the right place to post this issue…I’m totally new to Github and know zero about programming.

I bought a website from someone else a couple of years ago and recently migrated it to GoDaddy. (Before that it was spilt up all over the place). We’ve fixed all of the errors except this final one which I can’t seem to figure out. This error occurs when people try to register for the site, and after hitting “Submit” the system can’t send the verification email fpr people to click the link and activate their account. (Picture of the error is below).

I have a feeling that the error is two-fold, but I’m not sure if any of this is correct.

  1. I need to upgrade my Github to 6.0.7, but I have no idead how to do that. It is a Joomla site and usually an extension update is a simple download, then a drag and drop, but I guess that isn’t available with Github. Apparently, I need to enter code somewhere, and I have no idea what code to enter nor where to enter the code.

  2. I have seen in a few places that GoDaddy and remote mail servers don’t play well together. If the process of upgrading alone doesn’t work, what is the work around for forcing Github and GoDaddy to work together?

I have gone through the Troubleshooting page linked in the error code, but I don’t know where to insert any of that code. Nor do I know what to do with it even if I did know where to put it.

I have a couple of computer friends that are good at coding, so if anyone out there could help me out with some step by step instructions for fixing this, they will be able to follow along to that. They aren’t Joomla or GoDaddy experts so the troubleshooting page didn’t help enough for them to figure out how to fix it.

Thank you for your response!

There isn’t a product named “GitHub 6.0.7” that GitHub offers. It sounds like what you’re talking about is an extension for Joomla to connect your site to a GitHub repository. Unfortunately, GitHub doesn’t provide or support any Joomla extensions. You may want to find out who built the Joomla extension you’re running into problems with and contact their support team.
