Show IdP-provided name as member display name on SSO-linked orgs

Within an SSO-enabled Enterprise organization, it would be very helpful to see members’ full names as provided by the IdP instead of the names they put in their GitHub profiles.

Today, it seems only organization owners have access to IdP-provided SCIM identity information, such as name and email. My request is to have this information (at least the name) both visible to and searchable by any SSO-linked member of the organization.

The lack of this feature is the number one source of frustration our employees are reporting when assigning pull requests, reading comments & email notifications, or trying to ping colleagues in a thread. Seeing real (IdP-provided) names in the GitHub interface will make it more usable than trying to memorize all our colleagues’ GitHub handles.

Thanks for your time and consideration!

Hello, any news on this topic?
It feel a bit strange in a professional context to have notifications like:

:joy: I like your example. There is one alternative in the pipeline:
https://github.com/github/roadmap/issues/132

It could be an option for Enterprise customers that want full control over the accounts, but it doesn’t address the issue for those who want to allow personal accounts in their organizations (which is our case).
