I have a very large iTunes library comprising of music and audiobooks- most of it is my collection and
is not purchased content. I’ve spent almost ten years building up the collection and it’s very important to me.
The problem with macOS Catalina onwards is that it split up iTunes into, ‘Music & Books’(and TV)
‘Books’ has no individual editing ability and makes a complete mess of my 200 odd audiobooks
which, again, I’ve spent years editing, finding artwork and so on. ‘Books’ and ‘Music’ on macOS have really been dumbed down.
I came across an application, on Gift Hub called, ‘Retroactive’ which allows iTunes to run on
macOS Catalina, macOS Big Sur and macOS Monterey.
It works brilliantly but only on Intel Macs-I’ve installed it on my M1 MacBook Pro and iTunes 12.9.5 crashes every time.
All the forums on Gift Hub confirm that iTunes 12.9.5 crashes on opening on all Apple Silicon machines.
I have it running on macOS Monterey on both a 2015 and 2017 MacBook Pro-running Intel of course.
And it syncs my iPhone through iTunes and not through the Finder.
Please see below:
I’ve tried getting hold of the clever developer, Tyshawn Cormier, but he is impossible to contact for some reason.
Would anybody be willing to try and get iTunes 12.9.5 running on Apple Silicon for me? I would be more than happy to pay of course.
And I’d be eternally grateful.
