Repository cloning requesting GitHub credentials

I’m trying to clone uncrustify into my Ubuntu VM.
Executing the command : git clone https:/ /github.com/uncrustify/uncrustify.git

However, it’s requesting my Github username and password, when I do provide the correct username and password, it says failed authentication.

How to resolve this issue ?

Hi

It seems that you using wrong credentials anyway… Could you check and login to Github site with those credentials ? Do not use autofill - just type them in. This could lead to a lot of ‘aha’ moments

You can’t use your password for Git operations, you need to provide a personal access token (PAT) with the appropriate scopes (repo, and also workflow if you use GitHub Actions).

See Create a PAT for how to create the PAT, and then input it when Git asks for your password.
