Reference organization template in repository

I’ve read the documentation on how to setup workflow templates at the organization level even when there’s not much documentation about the .github repository. What I have been unable to find is how to configure a repository to use a template without using the UI.
I know the centralized-way for workflows is still not implemented but any of you know how to reference a template without the UI?

@mxdlx,

What I have been unable to find is how to configure a repository to use a template without using the UI.

What do you mean about “use a template without using the UI”? Could you give an example for more detailed explanation?

If you want to reuse certain jobs or steps from another workflow, currently this feature is not supported.
However, you can try creating a composite run steps action to combine some workflow run steps within one action.

If the feature you require is not supported, you also can directly share a feature request in the Feedback form for GitHub.
That will allow you to directly interact with the appropriate engineering team, and make it more convenient for the engineering team to collect and categorize your suggestions.

Thank you for your answer!
I was looking to reuse a “.github” organization repository workflow as a template, this is currrently supported by Github per Promote consistency across your organization with workflow templates but that article does not provide a way to do that without using Github’s UI.
I think I can solve my case with composite anyway so unless you know the way to use templates without Github’s UI we can set this issue as resolved.
