Redirect multiple domains to one Github Pages site

Hi all

I was hoping you could help me here.

I have a Github Pages site, rossmoynekindy.github.io.
This Github Pages site works correctly for rossmoynekindy.com

The DNS settings for rossmoynekindy.com (Google Domains) is as follows:

A Record

Name | Data
@ | 185.199.111.153
@ | 185.199.110.153
@ | 185.199.109.153
@ | 185.199.108.153

CNAME

Name | Data
www | rossmoynekindy.github.io

Now I also have rossmoynekindy.com.au

The DNS settings for rossmoynekindy.com.au (Crazy Domains) is as follows:

A Record

Name | Data
@ | 185.199.111.153
@ | 185.199.110.153
@ | 185.199.109.153
@ | 185.199.108.153

CNAME

Name | Data
www | rossmoynekindy.com

However, rossmoynekindy.com.au does not redirect to rossmoynekindy.com.

It says

> 404 There isn’t a GitHub Pages site here.
>
> If you’re trying to publish one, read the full documentation to learn
> how to set up GitHub Pages for your repository, organization, or user
> account.

I was hoping that you could advise where I have done wrong. I am guessing the A Record details for rossmoynekindy.com.com.au are not correct.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Thank you @rossmoynekindy for being here!

I see that you already have this sorted out; rossmoynekindy.com.au from my end redirects successfully to rossmoynekindy.com. Let us know if that is not the case.

Thanks for touching base. Had to pay $20 to Crazy Domains!

Hi, @nyahbhinghiprincess, could you please guide me with the process to do this? I have the same requirement, and I would rather stick with my current provider than go with Crazy Domains.

Hi @theramiyer, welcome to the GitHub Support Community!

GitHub Pages doesn’t natively support using more than one domain with a Pages site but you can set this up with certain domain providers.

First you’ll need to choose a main domain—the domain you want to show in the URL bar for your site—then set up the DNS records for this domain by following our documentation.

For your secondary domain you’ll need to set up a domain redirect. Only some domain providers support this—such as Google Domains— so you’ll need to check with your domain provider if this is an option first.

You can achieve the same by using a CNAME record with the value of your main domain to redirect one domain to the other though this isn’t recommended for apex domains (domains with no www or other subdomain) as they can interfere with any other DNS records you have attached.
