Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask about git features. But need a quick answer.
If I power down my computer while a rebase operation is still in progress, does that abort the rebase? I’ve invested a lot of time in resolving conflicts, I’d hate to lose all that work.
Thanks in advance.
As long as there’s no Git process currently running it should be safe (assuming consistent file system state). The
git rebase documentation mentions that interrupting a running
git rebase process might lead to a broken state in some circumstances.
Great, thanks. It worked. I did a test by restarting and everything was right where I left it. I was using Visual Studio’s git interface and it displayed “Rebase in progress” so I was unsure if it can be safely interrupted. I made sure all git processes have finished before the restart.
