Hi everyone, For a project I need to join a Github organization that requires Two Factor Authentication, however I don’t have a phone available that can receive SMS messages (just a regular office phone). I’ve followed these instructions to work around the problem using Google Voice: https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-use-two-factor-authentication-without-a-phone/ Because I’m based outside the US and this supposedly only works in the US, I’ve connected through a VPN to New York. Unfortunately it keeps asking for a US phone number to complete the Google Voice profile before it lets me claim a US number to receive SMS messages. I’ve been fighting with this the whole afternoon now and out of ideas, it feels like I’m not getting forward. Any help, please?
After 2 days of struggling still no luck, and completely stuck. Any suggestions are incredibly much appreciated!
Thanks for being here, is downloading a totp mobile app to your computer not an option? See: https://help.github.com/en/articles/configuring-two-factor-authentication#configuring-two-factor-authentication-using-a-totp-mobile-app
