Pain beyond making you sick.

Hello,

Tis an honor to be posting on github community for the 1st time.

Question: is there any way to have some form of dark theme for git hub desketop? If yes please explain how u may do this.

I suffer from severe chronic lyme disease and am super uper duper sensitive to light thus 99% of everything on my pc has some form of dark theme. Just got git hub dekstop today to help some of the Kerbal Space Program users with a bug i was able to make mod some files for a fix.

But this bloody white desktop git hub is making me puke becaus eits so **bleep** bright & hurts so much… I tried looking around for a solution and found a few “closed” threads, but was un able to find anthing of use. Right now i wont be able to look at the application “git hub desktop” for some time.

Question: is there any way to have some form of dark theme for git hub desketop? If yes please explain how u may do this.

Sincerely, respectfully, regards.

A community member has a suggested workaround in the issue on a dark theme for GitHub Desktop.

I hope that helps!

Thank you for the info. I have thus put asid GitHub Desktop and am now using the Git Bash. Which has a nice DARK backround :). Hopefully Git Desktop will eventually have an easy menu option regarding dark theme. Esp. for those that need it such as diseased individuals.

Thanx again regards.

Here’s the direct solution, so you don’t have to go hunting through the linked content
In github desktop press

ctrl+shift+I

Click on the console window

And enter all of this

varhtml_file=require("path").join(process.resourcesPath,"app/index.html");
varhtml=require("fs").readFileSync(html_file,"utf8");
varlink_to_inject='\<link href="https://rawgit.com/1j01/d8f8d11785d8fb21a70654e7aa8a4553/raw/desktop-dark.css" rel="stylesheet"\>';
html=html.replace(link_to_inject,"").replace("\</head\>",`\n${link\_to\_inject}\</head\>`);
require("fs").writeFileSync(html_file, html,"utf8");
location.reload();

 press enter, and voila dark theme
