Open PRs when changing a repo's visibility to public - what happens?

Hey there,

We have a private repo that we’d like to make public.

I understand that private forks will get detached from the repo’s network and each will become the root of their own network (as described here), but I couldn’t find anyway what will happen to active open pull-requests (we have 10s of those at any point in time, with lots of discussion and history).

Can anyone advise?

More specifically,

I couldn’t find any way to add more commits to such a PR (opened before the project changed to “public”), as the fork the PR was made of is now detached from the repo the PR is opened on.

Any workaroudn for this? Anything I should have done before changing the project from private to public?
