#NoToMicrosoft

I heard news about Microsoft buying Github. No one wants that!
Here is a vote on telegram, just to make you understand the situation: gitNO.png

Make a proportion and apply it to all the github users, the result will be the same. NO ONE wants Github to be owned by Microsoft, except for Microsoft itself. I hope this post will make a difference.
Oh and just to specify, Microsoft is once again using it’s strategy of “Embrace, extend, extinguish”. Don’t let them do that.

Edit:

Seems like the original proportion was wrong. NoGit2.png

92.0187793% of the community doesn’t want this change.

Couldn’t agree more. Let’s hope for the best.

I just heard this as well. They recently bought LinkedIn. I wonder how they will change the ‘terms’. What they change will determine if people jump ship or stay.

It’s too late.

I’ll probably be migrating away from GitHub and leaving the platform once the deal is finalized.

posted this in the Atom Slack Chat
The bad parts of MS acquiring GitHub

1. Removes atom to replace it with VScode
2. Changes GitHub to MicroGit
3. Changes the GUI to look more like Bit Bucket
4. Limited public Repositories = more money to pay for the plans that MS changes
5. Removes github community, Atom forums and Atom slack are removed and replaced with Vscode forums and communities
6. electron might get removed because the non electron fans say electron based apps lag for some type of computers

The channel where I found it is @linuxgram , link is t.me/linuxgram . Scroll up a bit, it’s currently the 7th post from the bottom.

I will stay because its GitHub, though I don’t think the people at GitHub would be fired

The problem is that it probably won’t stay GitHub. Look at Minecraft with it’s stupid new in-game currency. MS either changes it completely or kills it off quickly.

Just looked at their website, didn’t know anything about this new bug fraud feature, they basically eliminated the FOSS and gratis minecraft modding community and are now replacing it with paid mods XD .
This world is disgusting.

That can be correct in some cases for Windows 10 and Pocket edition. While right now Java edition mods are OSS on GitHub right now.

Thats true. I am hoping they don’t change the Java Edition since Microsoft bought MC.

Rip independent code hosting on GitHub. :crying_cat_face:

that somewhat true but I have talked to Jeb through Discord

He did say that “Java edition is being worked at Mojang while Pocket Editon is being worked by MS”
