Moved files to new directory, pushed, but duplicate files still in original directory

So, let’s say I have the main folder, which has the repository and the files. The remote repository is consistent with my local repository. I then moved the files to a new folder using the “mv” command, added the changes, committed, and pushed it. The files did move to the new folder, but it also didn’t. So, basically, I have duplicate files in their original folder, but I also have the files that were moved into the new folder on GitHub. My question is how to remove the duplicate original files.

Also, I want to mention that when I do “ls” on my local repository, it shows up with only 2 things: the new directory and the README. But on GitHub, it has that and the duplicate files.

 Welcome!

Would this procedure using git rm work for you?

That worked! Thank you so much!
