Linux Mint/Cinnamon + Python --> Resize System-Window does not work

Hey there,
im super-new in Python-programming so i hope that my question is not too useless:

  • Im trying to program a application where i can move and resize system windows from linux mint 20 cinnamon
  • Im already over the finish line --> Tray-icon works, Configparser-Config-Loading works, Hotkey-Detection, …

But it seems that i can do what i want and for me its not possible to

  • detect the currently active window
  • move and resize this window

here is my code which is currently running and not throwing errors, but does not move or resize a window

    display = Xlib.display.Display()
    root = display.screen().root
    windowID = root.get_full_property(display.intern_atom('_NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW'), lib.X.AnyPropertyType).value[0]
    window = display.create_resource_object('window', windowID)
    window.configure(x = 20, y = 20, width=200, height=200)
    display.sync()

I already tried Gtk3, Gdk3, GtkX11 and so on
But keep in mind, i don’t really know what im doing because Python is very new to me

Maybe someone can help me out

Thank you guys
