LFS support for template repos?

Any plans to support LFS content for template repos? When you make a new repo from a template repo, only the scrubbed file pointers are copied rather than the new repo having its own LFS content. Makes template repos for video game projects pretty useless, which sucks since I was really looking forward to using this feature.

Steps are pretty straightforward

  1. Make a repo
  2. Check the template repo box in the repo settings
  3. Add a .gitattributes to the repo
  4. Add an entry to .gitattributes: *.jpg filter=lfs diff=lfs merge=lfs -text
  5. Add any jpg file
  6. Push
  7. Go to the repo’s page and click the button to make a new repo from this template
–> Your new repo will have an invalid jpg

Hi @mikerochip!

I don’t know if there’s a specific timeline for when this will be supported, but I’ve added your +1 to our internal feature request tracker to make it possible!
