Large file commit mistake = logjam

Mistakenly attempted commit+push of a big data file (256MiB) leading to GitHub large file error. Have used rm and reset HEAD to clean up local state, but remote remains totally jammed. Any push attempt (e.g. source code) now results in failure due to persistent large file error… Help!

Problem remains in local repo need to clone anew from GitHub remote… 1) back up any local state changes as best you can, 2) create new clone, 3) overwrite new clone with changes, commit & push. Details of commits between pushes are lost but there doesn’t seem to be another solution…
