Is it a valid idea? an open-source tool in Python

Hi !

I want to start an open-source tool that the user suplies it with a link and start->end time to make a ringtone for iPhone.

Every iPhone user have had this drama to make a ringtone and put it into his phone, I face this issue with all my family and friends who has one.

So, I thought about this idea: a python tool that takes a YouTube linke (youtude-dl) to download it in mp3 and cut it based on the spesified duration that the user specifies (didn’t get a python library for that yet) and convert it to m4r.

the first problem I got with this idea is that there is no way to move the file from the machine into the connected iPhone directly. Will figure out how later.

My question is-> is it a good idea to start an open-source tool that might help iPhone users to accomplish this small, booooring task? any recommendations?

Thanks

If you have fun and learn something while coding it then it probably is a good idea!
