Invalidate Favicon

By default, Github pages seems to pull the favicon by the user’s avatar.

However, if a user changes their avatar, the favicons don’t seem to get updated.

In my case, I changed my picture over two years ago, so I’m wondering if there’s a way to purge the icon (like we can with github photos) so it can refetch.

I know that we can specify favicons ourselves, but I’d like to update the default so it reflects across my page and on new ones without the need for custom layouts.

Hey,

Sadly, browser caching prevents this in an easy way.  New visitors should see your new favicon, but sadly any browsers that have already seen it may not update.

If you are using raw HTML for your site, this article may help:

Hope this helps!
