[Improvement] Status checks are missing when status check cannot start

I noticed that the status check icon (yellow dot, red cross or green tick) is missing from a commit if the status check failed to start. The specific scenario that occurred for me is when I malformed a Travis configuration file, which meant that the Travis build did not start. I expected Github to show me that the status check integration had failed, instead it showed me nothing.

This behaviour was very confusing as I was unsure whether my entire Travis integration was broken or just for this commit. It would be very useful if this integration can be improved such that a warning is shown if the status check cannot start, ideally with a link to the integration failure message (e.g. https://travis-ci.com/Redmart/<repo>/requests which shows Could not parse .travis.yml).

I am not 100% sure, but think this might be something that Travis should change and not GitHub. But again, not 100% sure about that.
