Importing information from the GitHub API in the readme file

Hi,

We have created a repository containing a number of releases, and I would like the readme page to act as sort of a “front page” where I would like to display the number of downloads for each release, which is accessible through the GitHub API.

It is possible to import information from the GitHub API to a readme file on GitHub?

Best regards,
WB

Hi WB,

Welcome to the GitHub Community! We are happy you’ve joined, and apologies for the delayed response. There is a community project called git badges which might be helpful. Here is the page: https://pufler.dev/git-badges/

I use it on my README to show stats and it works well.

I hope this helps!

Hi Andrea,

Yes! I stumbled across Julian’s badges that you’ve linked to and also https://shields.io
actually have their own badges also. Many thanks!

Best regards
