I found a strange bug in markdown editor

Hi,

I tried to look for any info about this behaviour on various places but it seems its either not documented or unknown to GitHub.
But if you type option+space (on mac, don’t really know exactly the combo in windows/linux but I guess it would be something like alt+space) after a headline for example, it would not create a formatted title as expected, outputting exactly what was typed.

written with option+space between the hash and “what” word:

result:

expected:

I believe its fairy easy to repro and I find myself repeating the same mistake (specially on headlines in my keyboard layout).
To be fair I’m not sure if this should be fixed given that although it renders as an empty space the char code is different. But what I’m looking more than the fix itself is to document this behaviour so that others are aware of whats going on… It took me ages until I figured out why my headlines where not being rendered correctly from time to time.

Hi @thegiantbeast

I was searching for a topic and I saw yours and thought I would reach out.

Thanks for sharing this. I was able to recreate this.
To provide context, how do you use option+space? I’m curious what is the use case?

It took me a moment to train my brain to press this combination for a space.
