Currently it looks like we can only search for subjects. Suggestions will be the topics which contain key words. But how to search within a topic?
@tisph Thanks for asking! When using the search tool, it returns results based on both the Topic titles and the content in the body of the Topics. You may see results at the top of the list that have your search term in the titles, but it will also return results based on the body content, not just the title.
Are you asking for something different? If so, can you please explain a little more what you’re looking for. Thank you!
I’m sorry I didn’t make it clear. My point is how to search inside after opening a topic. The search tool does return results based on the body content, however, it only returns the topic titles. Clicking the result won’t bring me to the line which contains my key words but bring me to the beginning of that topic. (In fact, we generally only look at the first page
But sometimes there are multiple pages.
@tisph Ah, thanks for clarifying! So, this then sounds like a feature request, as it’s not a function currently built into the Community. I think it’s a great idea though!
For now, the best way to submit bug reports or feature requests for the Forum is via our contact page (github.com/contact). GitHub Staff working in the Forum will see and respond to those requests there.
That said, I do want to share that we are working on a new tool and process within the Community itself for submitting these sorts of things. This is still in the investigative stage, and I don’t have a timeline to share, but we are planning on improving this process.
We also recognize the desire for feature requests to be visible to other users, commented on, and even voted on. These are all things that we are taking into consideration when looking at implementing a new process.
Thank you so much for the feedback!
