How to fail on missing quote in github action

I lately run into the problem that a run was missing a " and to my surprise it was just green (without executing anything of course). Is there a way to let the run fail in such a situation, maybe a config? something like strict=true :slight_smile:

Though I have to say, I would expect that it fails per default, so rather a mode=lax for people who want such a behaviour but I doubt there are any

It’s impossible to comment on that without knowing more about your workflow. If the issue is (for example) an empty shell command in your workflow that’s no bug on the Actions side.

@airtower-luna Oh wow, I figured I already gave more details. Sorry about the long silence and thanks for your answer. I was talking about a shell command. Something like echo "not using a closing quote did not fail the shell command.

I mean the exact command and YAML workflow context, to be able to see what might cause this odd behavior. Generally the run command should fail in that situation, and for me it does.

I need to search in the git history, as far as I remember, it was in conjunction with an ssh command. I’ll get back to you

@airtower-luna I found it:
