Highlighting in new UI not accessible

I’m not going to get involved in the discussion of pros and cons of the new UI. Right now I just care that important functionality is broken.

In the screenshot below I have highlighted lines 54-58, however they do not appear to be highlighted at all.

Breaking out developer tools shows that the highlight CSS class is applies and that it does in fact set a background colour of #FFFBDD:

That colour is great for reading black (#000000) text on top of it. It has a colour contrast of 20.09:1 for black on highlight text - that even passes WCAG AAA. Accessibility win!

However, as a highlight colour it is utterly pointless because it does not stand out from the background colour (#FFFFFF). Compared to the background colour., the highlight colour has a colour contrast ratio of only 1.04:1 - a massive fail.

As a colour blind user I simply can’t see the highlighting at all. I had assumed that the UI redesign has broken it.
