Login problems you can fix yourself

If you can’t login because you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset your password.

If you have lost access to your two factor authentication (2FA) TOTP app, SMS number, or recovery codes, please follow the prompts in the 2FA recovery sequence. You will be able to contact support as a last measure if none of the options are available to you.

If you’re trying to reset your password but you see an error that says “Your browser did something unexpected. Please contact us if the problem persists”, please try resetting your password in an incognito or private browsing window before contacting us directly.

Login problems you’ll need to talk to us about

You will have to contact support directly in any of the following scenarios, or any situation where we may need to discuss private information relating to your account.

  • If you have lost access to the email address on your account and are being asked for an emailed code when you login.

  • If you don’t remember the email address associated with your account and need to reset your password.

  • If you have lost access to the email address on your account and you don’t remember your GitHub password, there might not be anything we can do other than recommend that you make a new account. However, if you’d like to be sure, you can contact support directly.
