Help needed -how to upgrade github from one major version to the next

Dear community.

I have received and been entrusted with ubuntu github 10 CE. “yes I know”

I’ve been tasked with upgrading it to the latest version of version 13.

currently I am struggling to find proper documentation or steps to do this.

Could anyone be so kind as to enlighten me to a step by step procedure and scripts to do this please.

The situation is not desirable.

Thank you,
Crim

OK, I figured it out.

I ran the following in sequence and checked each time. This keeps the upgrade paths in tact.

sudo apt update
curl “https://packages.gitlab.com/gpg.key” -o /tmp/omnibus_gitlab_gpg.key
sudo apt-key add /tmp/omnibus_gitlab_gpg.key
sudo apt update
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get install gitlab-ce=11.11.8-ce.0
sudo apt-get install gitlab-ce=12.0.12-ce.0
sudo apt-get install gitlab-ce=12.1.17-ce.0
sudo apt-get install gitlab-ce=12.10.14-ce.0
sudo apt-get install gitlab-ce=13.0.14-ce.0
sudo apt-get install gitlab-ce=13.1.11-ce.0
sudo apt-get install gitlab-ce=13.8.4-ce.0

sudo apt-get install gitlab-ce
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt autoremove

PS: I would assume that anyone update/upgrading there github on ubuntu server you can follow the same and obviously just start your version script from the version you on.

Those commands look like you’re using GitLab, not GitHub. For help with the former you might be better off asking in the GitLab Forum:
