Give reactions extra meaning

Description

Sometimes a person(s), who was mentioned in a message (discussion), reacts to the same message.

I think, that reactions of mentioned peolple and other (not mentioned) in the message people are a bit different. Reaction of mentioned people may have additional meaning. Say, if someone posts a message, like “this person said, that …”, and mentiones this very person, then if the mentioned person reacts with thumbs up, it means he agrees/verifies/confirms the message.

Another example, why reactions may be differentiated (and may appear differently in UI), may be if owner of the project reacts to the message.

With this feature, it would be easier to not miss important messages while looking through discussions, aspecially long ones.

Proposal

Enhance message reactions, so they can be given additional meaning and can be displayed differently in UI.

Hi @ggarek,

For now, the best way to submit feature requests is via our contact page (github.com/contact). GitHub Staff will see and respond to those requests there.

That said, I do want to share that we are working on a new tool and process for submitting these sorts of things for the Community Forum (and for github.com). This is still in the investigative stage, and I don’t have a timeline to share, but we are planning on improving this process.

We also recognize the desire for feature requests to be visible to other users, commented on, and even voted on. These are all things that we are taking into consideration when looking at implementing a new process.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I’ll be locking this thread from further replies, and I encourage you to send your feature request via the contact form linked above.
