Github url name

In one of my documents I have shared a link to a public available repo of mine and more particularly in one of the documents with URL: https://github.com/user_name/repo_name/README.md

However, I have noticed that the document has changed its name to https://github.com/user_name/repo_name/blob/master/README.md.

Why did this happen? Is there a way to solve the issue by creating the first name?

Hi @kristosh, welcome to the GitHub Support Community! When you’re linking directly to a file inside your repository on github.com you need to include the branch information in the link. There can be multiple different versions of the same file at that same path but hosted on different branches, so you need to include the branch information in the URL to ensure you’re pointing to the correct one.

blob/master in this case indicates that you’re linking to blob (file) storage and the file is hosted on the master branch.

So there is not any possible way to skip /blob/master?
