Github Pages Won't Load from Root Github .io Domain

Wondering if there’s something I’m doing incorrectly.

I have my github pages setup and working in that I can see my default page and theme, but it’s currently serving from mypage.github.io/subdirectory, rather than what I would like which is mypage.github.io. When I attempt to load it from just the mypage.github.io nothing appears (404). Is there a way to do this that I’m missing?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hello @nin-ack,

To serve your page directly from mypage.github.io you must create a repository named <user>.github.io, where <user> should be your GitHub username. (example) Otherwise it’ll be treated as a project site. See About GitHub Pages for more information.

If you’ve already created the repository, renaming it should be sufficient.
