GitHub Pages Usage

“GitHub Pages is not intended for or allowed to be used as a free web hosting service to run your online business, e-commerce site, or any other website that is primarily directed at either facilitating commercial transactions or providing commercial software as a service (SaaS)”

I don’t plan on violating any rules, I just want to clear things up for myself so I can approach building my website properly. I wanted a free web hosting service where I can code the website myself instead of drag and drop. I’m new to coding and GitHub and stuff.

I plan on making a website for myself where I can post/link all my work (game development, music production and graphics) just because I think it will be a fun project and a good way to get into coding. Eventually I wish to add features where “fans” or supporters of my work can donate money to me via PayPal or Patreon and a tab where people can hire me to make a commission for them such as a graphic, soundtrack or game.

Are donations against the usage policy? Are commissions against the usage policy? If so can I just upgrade to a paid account on GitHub to get past this?

If not to all, should I start learning how to use Firebase (when I start doing commissions and accepting donations)

 Welcome!

The content of Pages is at the user’s discretion, as long as it’s legal and doesn’t otherwise violate GitHub’s Terms of Service.

Some users may choose to include ads, donation buttons, ticket sales, or other ways of monetizing their projects, and that isn’t prohibited as long as the page and its content are not in violation of any other terms.
