Github Package does not show up in UI

Here is what we did:

  1. We created a docker container as a package on the GitHub package registry.
  2. At the start, these were private, and then we converted them to public.
  3. We then deleted those packages.
  4. Now when we upload the same container image as the package they don’t show up on the UI. But we can still get it by docker pull

These are the commands to upload the package after doing the authentication.

> docker build --build-arg BUILD_DATE=`date -u +"%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%SZ"` --build-arg BUILD_VERSION="0.7.5a" --build-arg VCS_REF=`git rev-parse --short HEAD` -t ghcr.io/msk-access/bwa:0.7.17 .
> docker push ghcr.io/msk-access/bwa:0.7.17

So currently the two packages:
ghcr.io/msk-access/bwa and ghcr.io/msk-access/abra2 are private, but I don’t see them being displayed on the UI for packages. https://github.com/orgs/msk-access/packages

Thank you for your help in advance.

Best,
Ronak

Hey @rhshah – Have you opted yourself into the beta by chance? https://docs.github.com/en/free-pro-team@latest/packages/guides/enabling-improved-container-support

Yes I did, not sure how is that related to it, can you please elaborate

This is happening to me too.

It used to work for me - I could docker push to ghcr.io, and it would show up in the UI and be available at https://github.com/users/USERNAME/packages/container/package/PACKAGENAME.

But now (the past week), the packages just don’t show up.

I know they exist - I can perform a docker pull and I can see the image using skopeo. They just don’t show up in the UI.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
