GitHub Desktop wont let me authorize my account and push anything

I’ve been trying to push files for a project, however like the header says It won’t allow me to authenticate anything. I can still receive pushed from others but files I edit or add won’t push. On top of that, the thing I want to push is relatively a relatively old change, and I am just now getting to pushing it. However, anything new I change or add isn’t even read by the application as having been changed. Please help as I am not sure how to fix these issue but need it fixed soon. Thank you.

Welcome to the GitHub community, @Poyo02 ! We’re happy you’re here. You are more likely to get a useful response if you are posting your question(s) in the applicable category and are explicit about what your project entails–giving a few more details might help someone give you a nudge in the right direction. I’ve gone ahead and moved it for you. Good luck!

According to the message in the authentication window the repository you’re trying to push to is hosted on GitLab, not GitHub. Naturally being logged in to your GitHub account won’t work there.

You need to enter your GitLab account name, and an access token for your GitLab account (see Settings > Access Tokens) with the right scopes.
