Github desktop NOT commiting changes

Just created a new local repository and put my unity project in there.
Made an initial commit. All fine so far.

Few days later, I have quite a few changes made. I’m still on the main branch, with 300+ files changed, according to the github interface. I make a commit, and - nothing. No files get committed. It does all the normal gear spinning animations as if it was a successful commit, But no file changes are stored. Browser still says 300+ files changed.

Pushing to origin does nothing.
Been searching for a solution for this for an hour. Can’t find anyone with similar issue so far. To be honest not even sure what I should search for. Help?

Hello and welcome to the community @olatan.

I can’t think of a reason why GitHub Desktop would silently fail to create a commit. If that’s what you believe is happening, it would be helpful if you could upload the log file from GitHub Desktop, which should give some more information about this error.

To access the log files go to the file menu in GitHub Desktop and select Help > Show Logs in Finder (macOS) or Explorer (Windows). The log files are created daily — please upload a log file as an attachment from a day where you experienced the issue.
